What a profile is
A profile stores an on/off state for every extension. Activating it applies that state to your whole browser at once. Typical setups:
- Work — productivity tools on, shopping/social extensions off
- Web Dev — React DevTools, JSON viewers, CORS helpers on, everything else off
- Minimal — everything off except an ad blocker and a password manager
The Default view
Default isn't a profile — it's your manual setup. When you switch from Default into a profile, Extensio snapshots your current state first; switching back to Default restores exactly what you had. You never lose your manual configuration by trying out profiles.
Creating and editing profiles
- Header → profile selector → Create Profile. Name it and pick a color.
- Optionally start from your currently enabled extensions ("keep current state").
- With the profile active, toggle extensions on/off — changes are saved to the profile automatically.
- You can also assign an extension to profiles from its card's ⋮ → Manage Profiles submenu.
Pinning: always-on extensions
Click the 📌 on any extension card to pin it. Pinned extensions:
- stay enabled in every profile, including new ones,
- are immune to site rules — no rule can ever switch them off,
- sort to the top of your list.
Perfect for password managers and ad blockers — tools that should survive any context switch.
Enable All / Disable All
The profile toolbar's bulk buttons act on the current view: in a profile they toggle that profile's extensions; in Default they act on everything. Handy for "turn the browser off" moments before a presentation.
Profiles + site rules
Rules layer on top of the active profile: on a matching site the rule wins; when you leave (with Revert mode) the extension returns to the profile's state. Premium users can also point one rule at an entire profile — see the Site Rules guide.
Free vs. Premium
Free includes 2 profiles; Premium removes the limit. Extra profiles created during a trial aren't deleted when it ends — they're locked until you upgrade.
