Profiles & Pinning: Switch Extension Sets with One Click

What a profile is

A profile stores an on/off state for every extension. Activating it applies that state to your whole browser at once. Typical setups:

Work: productivity tools on, shopping/social extensions off
Web Dev: React DevTools, JSON viewers, CORS helpers on, everything else off
Minimal: everything off except an ad blocker and a password manager

The Default view

Default isn't a profile: it's your manual setup. When you switch from Default into a profile, Extensio snapshots your current state first; switching back to Default restores exactly what you had. You never lose your manual configuration by trying out profiles.

Creating and editing profiles

Header → profile selector → Create Profile. Name it and pick a color.
Optionally start from your currently enabled extensions ("keep current state").
With the profile active, toggle extensions on/off: changes are saved to the profile automatically.
You can also assign an extension to profiles from its card's ⋮ → Manage Profiles submenu.

New empty profile? Activating a profile with no assignments starts with everything off: a clean slate you build up from. Extensions not in a profile are turned off while that profile is active.

Editing a profile's members

You can edit exactly which extensions a profile enables from one list: open the options page (right-click the Extensio icon → Options) → Profiles & Schedules, and click the puzzle icon on a profile row. An inline editor lists every installed extension with a switch:

ON means the extension is enabled when you switch to that profile; everything else is turned off.
Pinned extensions show as locked on, since they are always enabled in every profile.
Editing the currently active profile applies your changes live.

Pinning: always-on extensions

Click the 📌 on any extension card to pin it. Pinned extensions:

stay enabled in every profile, including new ones,
are immune to site rules: no rule can ever switch them off,
sort to the top of your list.

Perfect for password managers and ad blockers: tools that should survive any context switch.

Enable All / Disable All

The profile toolbar's bulk buttons act on the current view: in a profile they toggle that profile's extensions; in Default they act on everything. Handy for "turn the browser off" moments before a presentation.

Scheduled switching 👑

Let Extensio switch for you: in Manage Profiles → Schedules, add a schedule like "switch to Work every weekday at 9:00" (the Default view can be a target too). Add an optional end time to make it a real slot: "Work 9:00–17:00" switches back to Default at 17:00, and an end before the start spans midnight. Without an end time the switch simply stays until you change it. Each schedule shows its next run, and you can pause it with its switch.

How timing works: schedules apply "on the next activity after the scheduled time". If your computer was asleep or the browser closed at 9:00, the switch happens the moment you're back, and if several schedules were missed, only the most recent one is applied.

Also available since 1.6.0 (Premium): switch profiles with keyboard shortcuts (default Alt+Shift+J / Alt+Shift+K, configurable in Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts): the toolbar badge flashes the profile's initial as confirmation.

Profiles + site rules

Rules layer on top of the active profile: on a matching site the rule wins; when you leave (with Revert mode) the extension returns to the profile's state. Premium users can also point one rule at an entire profile: see the Site Rules guide.

Free vs. Premium

Free includes 2 profiles; Premium removes the limit. Extra profiles created during a trial aren't deleted when it ends: they're locked until you upgrade.
