History & Hidden Extensions

"Why is my ad blocker off?" History answers that in one glance: every change, with its cause. And when the popup gets crowded, hide what you never touch.

What History records 👑

Open the options page (right-click the Extensio icon → Options) → History. Extensio logs every extension event in your browser: enable, disable, install, removal, and update. Each entry shows the extension, the time, and, most importantly, the cause.

Cause attribution

Every event is labeled with what triggered it:

CauseMeaning
YouA manual toggle in Extensio.
Site ruleA rule fired; the entry shows the rule's pattern, e.g. youtube.com.
Profile switchA profile was activated; the entry shows the profile's name.
ScheduleA scheduled profile switch ran.
Keyboard shortcutA profile shortcut was pressed.
PinningA pinned extension was auto-enabled.
Outside ExtensioThe change came from the browser's own settings page, another tool, or the browser itself. Extensio observed it and recorded it, but didn't cause it.
Tidy timeline: a profile switch that toggles many extensions at once is collapsed into one group. Expand it to see each individual change.

Working with the timeline

On the free tier

History is a Premium feature, but events are recorded even on the free tier. The free History page shows a clearly labeled, non-interactive preview with sample data so you can see what it looks like; the moment you upgrade (or start a trial), the timeline you've already collected is revealed. The same preview treatment applies to Update Radar and Schedules.

Storage & privacy

History keeps the latest 500 events, stored only on this device. It is never synced and never leaves your browser, in line with Extensio's no-data-collection policy.

Hidden extensions (free)

Some extensions you never toggle: your password manager's companion, a corporate tool, a theme. Hide them from the popup list to keep it focused:

Hidden extensions stay visible on the options Extensions page, dimmed and marked "Hidden in popup", where you can unhide them anytime with the same eye icon.

Hiding is purely visual. Rules, profiles, badge counts, bulk Enable All / Disable All, and sync all still include hidden extensions. The hidden flag itself syncs across your devices along with your other extension metadata (aliases, notes, pins).
